In a very inflationary context, prices at the pump, which have been falling in recent weeks, are starting to rise again slightly.
Motorists must have taken notice. In recent days, prices at the pump have been rising slightly in a context where the war in Ukraine and inflation continue to weigh on the markets. After a sharp drop throughout the summer, the costs of the various fuels are once again putting pressure on the wallets of the French. Starting with the liter of diesel which took a little more than 10 cents last week, going from 1.8400 to 1.9488 euros per liter, according to figures from the Ministry of Ecological Transition. If diesel had reached a plateau in the middle of August – 1.7899 euros – it has since started to rise again.

For the other fuels, the same trend is observed, but in much smaller proportions. This is the case for Super Unleaded 95, which increased by barely 1 cent: from 1.7707 to 1.7797 euros per litre. Just like the SP95-10 which went from 1.7305 to 1.7392 euros. The dynamic can also be seen for the Super Unleaded 98, the liter of which rose from 1.8331 to 1.8405 euros. As for LPG, it evolves from 0.8677 to 0.8722 euros. If these increases could raise fear among motorists, they can still be reassured.
New help in a few days
Since April 1, the government has granted motorists a rebate of 18 centimes per liter to refuel. From next Thursday, this reduction will be increased to 30 cents until October 31. Then, this rebate will drop to 10 cents until the end of the year. And it’s not just the executive who gets involved. To help motorists in particular, Total also announced in July an increase in its boost from 12 to 20 cents per liter from September 1. Despite the trend, current prices remain much lower than those experienced by the French in recent months. Some fuels still exceeded the two euro per liter mark in June.
