The fuel shortage affects many departments, but is yours one of them? Closer tells you more.
Like an air of deja vu… In October 2022, France was affected by a fuel shortage especially because of rising prices at the pump. A very unexpected situation and many gas stations were blocked. Those who had not closed their doors had to face endless queues of motorists, determined to fill up to get to work. In recent days, the fuel shortage has made a comeback and according to information from AFP, 15% of the stations are facing supply difficulties and 7.5% are dry. Several departments are affected by this shortage. Closer tells you more. The most affected is Loire-Atlantique with 53.37% of stations in difficulty supplying at least one fuel. The media specifies that the problem comes from the refinery of Donges, which ceased all activity and which impacts other neighboring departments.
The shortage of fuel is of great concern to the French who are afraid of running out of petrol and thus of no longer being able to go to their work. In addition to Loire-Atlantique, there is also the South-West, Brittany and Pays de la Loire who are affected. We can mention the case of Morbihan, Ille-et-Vilaine, Mayenne and Maine-et-Loire. Indeed, these four departments have a rate of stations with supply difficulties of over 40%. The same applies to Bouches-du-Rhône and Aude. The Var, the Alpes-Maritimes and the Drôme have, for their part, between 20 and 30% of stations out of stock at least partially. A shortage that also concerns Vaucluse, Gard, Hérault, Pyrénées-Orientales, Ariège and Haute-Garonne with rates over 30%. A very complicated situation on a national scale and which may take time to improve since it is a response to the adoption of the pension reform. Garbage collectors’ strike, repeated demonstrations, shortage of gasoline… The French want to make their discontent heard, in any way, even if it affects a large number.
Fuel shortage: how to monitor this situation in real time?
The shortage of fuel is a problem that affects many French people since those who travel by car in their daily life need gasoline. In October 2022, the government was surprised and had no time to react. For this new shortage, a map of fuel sales outlets has been put online. The latter allows you to know the price by type of fuel but also if a stock shortage is in progress. The goal ? Avoid unnecessary trips and queuing for hours to find an empty pump. This is available on the government website..
