Decidedly, the year 2022 is particularly busy for Fujifilm. After his X-H2S and X-H2the Japanese manufacturer unveiled its third high-end hybrid camera, the Fujifilm X-T5, on Wednesday. For anyone interested in Fujifilm’s ranges, it will be no mystery that this new interchangeable lens camera represents the top of the firm’s range of APS-C sensor bodies, replacing the X-T4, launched in June 2020. Unlike the X-H2 and X-H2S launched earlier in the year, the Fujifilm X-T5 therefore incorporates the traditional ergonomics of Fujifilm cameras, largely inspired by film cameras. We will therefore find three wheels on the upper part allowing individual control of ISO sensitivity, shutter speed or exposure compensation. As often with Fujifilm, the focal aperture is controlled directly on the lens ring.

While the X-H2 and X-H2S were more oriented towards video use, the Fujifilm X-T4 is resolutely oriented towards photography. As such, it benefits from a photo sensor in APS-C format (23.5 x 15.7 mm) with 40.2 million pixels and an X-Processor 5 image processor.

For stills, the Fujifilm X-T5 is capable of capturing stills at up to 1/8000s with the mechanical shutter. The sensitivity range is 125 to 12,800 ISO (64 to 51,200 ISO extended) for photos and 125 to 12,800 ISO (125 to 25,600 ISO) for video. The device is also capable of capturing burst shots up to 15 frames per second with the mechanical shutter and 13 frames per second with the electronic shutter. Note however that a 20 frames per second mode is also integrated, but with a crop of 1.29 x. The sensor of the Fujifilm X-T5 also benefits from mechanical stabilization on five axes supposed to allow a gain of 7 stops of exposure. An electronic shutter is also provided for video mode.

A device that does not forget the video for all that

Because if the Fujifilm X-T5 is above all designed for photo use, it does not forget videographers. The box is thus capable of capturing sequences in 6.2K 30p, in 4K at 60p or in Full HD at 240p with 4:2:2 10-bit compatibility in All Intro as on Long GOP. Externally, with an HDMI recorder, the X-T5 is then able to record 6.2K 30p files in Pro Res RAW

To save photos and videos, the Fujifilm X-T5 benefits from a double slot for UHS-II SD cards, but without CFexpress. The device also benefits from a USB-C connector, a micro-HDMI output and an audio input for microphone in mini-jack format, but without a headphone jack. The X-T5 also features Bluetooth 4.2 and Wi-Fi compatibility for remote control.

Finally, for shooting, Fujifilm has integrated a touchscreen LCD monitor that can be rotated in three directions with 1.84 million pixels, as well as a 3.69 million dot OLED electronic viewfinder.

The Fujifilm X-T5 will be launched from November 17 in two colors: black or silver. It will be offered at a price of 1999 euros without a lens, as a kit at 2399 euros with an 18-55 mm lens equivalent to 27-84 mm (f / 2.8-4) or at 2499 euros with a 16-80 mm lens equivalent to 24 -122mm (f/4)/
