Fujinon XF8mm F3.5 R WR: ultra wide-angle by Fujifilm

Truly wide-angle lens

The optical park intended for the Fujifilm X mount, more than 10 years old, is already substantial. It is enriched with a new lens called Fujinon XF8mm F3.5 R WR. A rather unique focal length, (12 mm in 24×36 eq.) that Fuji presents as displaying an angle of vision (121°) twice as wide as that of humans – while conceding that there are several academic definitions on the subject. This is the widest angle marketed by Fujifilm.

A focus at 12 cm

The lens uses twelve elements grouped into nine groups, including three aspherical and two ED glass elements. The pebble has a diameter of 68 mm for 52.8 mm long. The diameter of the filter holder is 62 mm, the minimum focusing distance is 18 cm, while the diaphragm has nine blades. The whole thing weighs 215g. The lens is also protected against weather and dust and can be used down to -10°C.

Fujifilm guarantees that the optics are very fast and that the point can be obtained very quickly. However, it will be necessary to be vigilant in low light with a maximum aperture of f/3.5.

Price and availability

The Fujinon XF8mm F3.5 R WR will be marketed from the end of June 2023 and for €899.
