The theatrical release for “Furiosa” has been postponed for almost a year. The film will probably not come out until May 2024.

George Miller’s (76) prequel to “Mad Max: Fury Road” will be released much later than previously assumed. As reported by the US industry portal “Deadline”, among others, Warner Bros. announced that “Furiosa” will not start in North America until May 24, 2024. So far, a release was planned for June 23, 2023.

Anya Taylor-Joy instead of Charlize Theron

“Furiosa” is supposed to tell the story of the character of the same name from the action highlight “Mad Max: Fury Road” from 2015. At that time, Charlize Theron (46) embodied the character. “The Queen’s Gambit” star Anya Taylor-Joy (25) will play the young version of the character in the prequel. Also there are Chris Hemsworth (38) and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (35). However, it is not yet known what roles the two will take on.

Cult character Max Rockatansky alias “Mad Max” will not play a role. Still, “Furiosa” is likely to be one of the most eagerly awaited action flicks of the coming years. “Mad Max: Fury Road” won a total of six Oscars in 2016.
