Futurama: Matt Groening’s cult animated series will be back with new episodes!

Although the Matt Groening myth will forever be attached to simpsonswe also owe him Futurama, an equally funny and almost equally popular anime series. After 5 seasons broadcast on the fox between 1999 and 2003, it was taken over by Comedy Central for 3 more seasons in 2008, before bowing out in 2013.

Legends never die and Futurama will prove it to us. Matt Groening and David X. Cohen, the creators of the series, have just announced that it will be returning in 2023 with at least one season of 20 unreleased episodes on Hulu, the very popular video-on-demand service in the United States. Comedians Billy West (Fry), Katey Sagal (Leela), Tress MacNeille, Maurice LaMarche, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr and David Herman have already resigned to lend their voices, while John DiMaggio (bender) is still in negotiations.

“I’m thrilled to have another chance to think about the future…or really about something other than the present,” Cohen said.

Groening added, “It’s a real honor to announce the triumphant return of Futurama once again before we’re abruptly canceled yet again. »

As for the distribution in France, we have no information at the moment, but as Hulu 66% owned by disneywe can hope for an output on Disney+ by us. All of the current seasons can also be viewed on the service of VOD at €8.99 per month right now.
