After a failed presidential and legislative elections, Republican activists are called upon to elect a new president for the party. For Annie Genevard, president of the Republicans, guest of Europe Matin on Wednesday, the party has been considered dead “countless times but the Republicans are holding on”.

What future for the party?
On the question of the future of the Republicans, Annie Genevard defends the party’s project. “I think that if we go towards the line debate, we will weaken ourselves. Find me a Frenchman who is not attached to security, public authority and solidarity at the same time. a breath of fresh air in our house, to renew our political practices, to work for the unity of our family. This is why this fight for the line seems to me to carry great danger for our political family.
The president also opposes the idea of a scattered group. “We have been told dead countless times but the Republicans are holding on and fully playing their role in Parliament,” she said. “There are in our political family different sensitivities in the candidates but on the merits, there is an aspiration for unity and a desire that everything be treated.”
