A year after the death of Gabby Petito, murdered by her boyfriend in the middle of a road trip across the United States, her father Joseph spoke in a heartbreaking Instagram post.
One year already. This Monday, September 19 marked the first anniversary of the discovery of the body of Gabby Petito, murdered in August 2021 by her boyfriend, Brian Laundrie, while the couple was crossing the American West in a motorhome. On this sad occasion, Joseph Laundrie, the father of the 22-year-old influencer, shared a nice photo of her and her little brother on Instagram. The two children proudly wear the colors of the New York Jets, a famous American football team.
“I want to thank everyone for the love and support you have given our families. It was thanks to you that we were able to bring Gabby home, wrote Gabby’s father, before taking advantage of this sad anniversary to send a generous message: Today is a particularly difficult day for us but, if you can, please share the story of a missing person to help bring them home. Each story deserves equal attention. And yes, I’m sharing this photo because the New York Jets won yesterday.”
The disappearance of Gabby Petito, an ultra-mediatized affair
Last year, the investigation into the murder of Gabby Petito had the whole world in suspense. She was reported missing on September 11, 2021, 10 days after her boyfriend, Brian Laundrie, quietly returned alone from their road trip across the American West. After the discovery of his body on September 19, in a forest in Wyoming, a manhunt had been launched to find Laundrie. But on October 20, 2021, the FBI discovered his remains in a swamp in Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park, Florida. Beside him was a suicide note, in which he confessed to being responsible for the murder of his girlfriend.
