Gabriel Attal threw a wrench in the pond on Wednesday evening on the set of TF1’s 8 p.m. By announcing a new reform of unemployment insurance which would reduce the duration of compensation for the unemployed, the Prime Minister provoked an outcry from unions, but also from politicians.
Marine Le Pen, for the RN, believes that it is a question of “picking the pockets of the French to replenish the coffers of the State” while Jean-Luc Mélenchon, for France insoumise, speaks of “cynicism and cruelty “. Traveling to Rambouillet, in Yvelines, this Thursday, the head of government counterattacked and responded to his detractors, first of all putting the two oppositions in the same bag.
“Far right, far left: same fight against work”
“Mr Mélenchon and Madame Le Pen, on issues of work and social issues, they are one and the same party. Extreme right, extreme left, same fight against work. A form of ‘all benefits’ party”, a- he declared. Comments which are part of a strategy aimed at discrediting the RN.
When Marine Le Pen says she sees “a scam” in this new unemployment insurance reform, Gabriel Attal replies: “The fact that everywhere in France, businesses, craftsmen and SMEs tell you that they are looking to recruit, that “they have job offers to develop and that at the same time, we remain with more than 7% unemployment, for them it is not a problem. We, we assume to say that we must encourage more returning to employment. For Mr. Mélenchon and Ms. Le Pen, the fact that there are people who stay on the RSA for ten years without being sufficiently well supported to find a job is normal. We say that this is not normal.”
A way of denouncing the ambiguity of the RN, which seeks to convince entrepreneurs, and of instilling doubt in right-wing voters tempted to vote for Jordan Bardella in the European elections.
