Galaxy Book4: Samsung equips its new ultraportables with Intel Core Utra chips

What’s new in Samsung’s Galaxy Book4

In total, three models have been announced by Samsung: the Galaxy Book4 Ultra, the Galaxy Book4 Pro and the Galaxy Book4 Pro 360.

Before describing each laptop in the range, a first new feature should be mentioned: the presence of a touch screen on these three references. A technology that was until now reserved for 360 versions.

All models are also entitled to a new cooling system benefiting from an 11% larger vapor chamber and a more efficient fan than on the Galaxy Book3.

The Galaxy Book4 Pro

In terms of technical characteristics, let’s start with the Galaxy Book4 Pro. With this model, Samsung offers two Oled screen sizes: 14 inches and 16 inches. These two panels benefit from a definition of 2880 x 1800 pixels, a brightness of 400 nits and a variable refresh rate 48-120 Hz.

In terms of performance, we find the Intel Core Ultra 5 or Core Ultra 7 chips as well as an Intel Arc Graphics iGPU (twice as powerful as the previous generation). To accompany them, 16 or 32 GB of RAM and 256 GB, 512 GB or 1 TB of SSD are included.

The two models share similar connectivity (two Thunderbolt 4, one USB Type-A, one HDMI 2.1, a microSD card reader and a 3.5 mm jack), but not the same keyboard. Indeed, the 16-inch Galaxy Book4 Pro benefits from a numeric keypad thanks to its larger size.

The Galaxy Book4 Pro 360

For the Galaxy Book4 Pro 360, a few additions are included compared to the Book4 Pro: a 16-inch screen that can be rotated 360° and an S-Pen stylus included, thus transforming the laptop into a giant touchscreen tablet. Perfect for drawing, playing or watching series and films.

The Galaxy Book4 Ultra

Finally, the Galaxy Book4 Ultra is Samsung’s power monster. A worthy heir to the excellent Galaxy Book3 Ultra, this model is available with graphics cards from Nvidia: the GeForce RTX 4070 accompanies the version with Intel Core Ultra 9 processor, while the version with Intel Core Ultra 4 is entitled to an RTX 4050 .

To support these CPU + GPU duos, Samsung offers 16, 32 or 64 GB of RAM and 512 GB, 1 TB or 2 TB of SSD storage. For the rest, we are entitled to a technical sheet similar to the Pro versions, except that the Galaxy Book4 Ultra has a 140 W charger (65 W for the Pro), offering a charge from 0 to 55% in 30 minutes.

For the moment, the price list has not been announced by Samsung. The Galaxy Book4 will launch in South Korea in January 2024.
