Galaxy S22: Samsung further restricts the basic model

Samsung will soon be launching three new high-end smartphones, the Galaxy S22, S22 Plus and S22 Ultra. A new leak reveals more details and suggests Samsung doesn’t want people to buy the base model. This has one major disadvantage. It’s about the battery and charging speed.

Samsung Galaxy S22: Smaller battery charges slower

While Chinese smartphone manufacturers are giving their new models charging speeds of well over 100 watts, Samsung remains cautious. The new Galaxy S22 smartphones can can be charged relatively quickly with up to 45 wattsbut this does not apply to the base model, as Evan Blass has now revealed (source: Leakmail).

The professional leaker sent out three circular emails in which he revealed the most important features of the Galaxy S22, S22 Plus and S22 Ultra. The basic model is very negative. There, the battery with 3,700 mAh will not only be very small, but also can only be charged with a maximum of 25 watts. The Galaxy S22 Plus gets a noticeably larger battery with 4,500 mAh, which can then also be charged with a maximum of 45 watts. The Galaxy S22 Ultra has a 5,000 mAh battery that also supports a maximum of 45 watts.

While this will charge the Galaxy S22 slightly faster than the Galaxy S21, the battery is also 300 mAh smaller and the charging speed is slightly faster. Nevertheless, this is no comparison to the Plus and Ultra versions. Samsung almost degrades the Galaxy S22 to a mid-range smartphone. Oh yes: A power supply is of course not included. You then have to buy it additionally.

Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus will appear later

There’s more bad news. According to this, only the Galaxy S22 Ultra should be launched on time from February 25, 2022:

Due to problems in the supply chain, Samsung will probably have to postpone the market launch of the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus by two weeks. That would mean that the two smartphones will not be available until March 11, 2022. The official presentation will take place on February 9, 2022.
