Samsung Galaxy S23: Differences in the processor are getting bigger
Samsung has been offering its high-end S-Class smartphones in two different versions for years. Once with its own Exynos processor and then with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chip. With the Galaxy S22 you have already clearly felt the difference between the processors, but with the Galaxy S23 this should be even bigger – which is becoming a real problem for Samsung:
An insider has now revealed that the next Samsung’s Exynos processor for the Galaxy S23 “basically no longer has a right to exist”. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is significantly more efficient than the company’s three previous chips, and the difference between the Snapdragon and Exynos processors will be significantly larger.
So if Samsung sticks to its previous strategy and the South Korean company offers the Exynos version of the Galaxy S23 in Germany, then we are clearly at a disadvantage. The battery life of the German version of the Galaxy S22 is already weaker than that of the US version. Qualcomm had the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 built by Samsung, but the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is manufactured by TSMC. This is where the full potential can really be exploited. the Performance increases by 10 percent, but efficiency by 30 percent, so smartphones with Qualcomm’s new chip will last much longer. Samsung just isn’t as advanced in manufacturing as the competition, and that could be a real disadvantage. Samsung does not want to introduce a completely specially developed chip until 2025. Maybe you want to somehow drag yourself through with the Exynos SoC until then.
