Galaxy S23 Ultra official: Samsung perfects its recipe and pushes the limits of photography

Lo and behold: after months of intense rumours, Samsung has revealed its new high-end flagship, the Galaxy S23 Ultra, to the world. Alongside the standard and Plus models, this one intends to confirm the path taken by the series with the previous generation, with some improvements all the same. A brief overview.

It’s the big day for Samsung. During his Unpacked conference, the Korean giant has officially unveiled its new range of premium smartphones: the Galaxy S23. If the standard and Plus models do not have to be ashamed of their technical data sheet, it is of course on the Ultra model that all eyes have been riveted. Each year, the latter is the spearhead of Samsungthe one who sets an example for future generations.

This new iteration is no exception to the rule. Bad tongues will say that the manufacturer was content to copy many aspects of the Galaxy S22 Ultra – and they will not be completely wrong – but this Galaxy S23 Ultra is still equipped with two major innovations. The first is of course the abandonment of the Exynos processor in favor of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. And this, even in Europe.

The latter should therefore allow a certain leap in performance for the smartphone, at least in our side of the globe, traditionally aggrieved on this point compared to American and Korean users. The rest of the sheet is relatively classic for a smartphone of this caliber. The SoC comes with 8 or 12 GB of RAM and one 5000mAh battery.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra also features a 6.8-inch LTPO 2.0 display with a definition of 3088 × 1440 pixels (Quad HD+) and with a variable refresh rate between 1 and 120 Hz. It is also the only one in the range to be equipped with this technology, which will allow it to save a little battery. On the storage side, we will find the choice 256 GB, 512 GB or 1 TB.

But, like every year, the real highlight of this Galaxy S23 Ultra is of course its photo part. This is where Samsung has really innovated, offering the first 200 MP main sensor on the market, the ISOCELL HP2. With a size of 1/1.3 inch, its maximum definition is 8K at 30 FPS. He sits alongside a 12 MP ultra-wide angleof a 10 MP telephoto lens and one 10 MP periscopic lens, like its predecessor. All powered by many technologies, which allow it to be excellent in night photography.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra is available from 1419€.
