The Galaxy S24s hit the market with several exclusive features using artificial intelligence, but these are expected to roll out to other smartphones soon.
Galaxy AI, the company’s latest suite of artificial intelligence tools that arrived with the Galaxy S24, coming soon to a range of Galaxy devices. This initiative should make it possible to improve the functionality of the old models, bringing them closer to the capabilities of the new series.
Galaxy AI integration in One UI 6.1, which is expected to roll out by the end of March, is expected to delight users of older smartphones. The update will not only introduce artificial intelligence features, but also other user interface improvements.
Which smartphones will soon benefit from Galaxy AI?
Among the devices that will soon receive One UI 6.1 are:
- Galaxy S23, S23 Plus, S23 Ultra
- Galaxy S23 FE
- Galaxy Z Fold 5
- Galaxy Z Flip 5
- Galaxy Tab S9, S9 Plus and S9 Ultra
Samsung’s approach stands in stark contrast to that of some of its competitors, such as Google, which restricted some AI features on its Pixel 8 lineup due to alleged “hardware limitations”. Samsung, for its part, does not deprive its old devices of new features, even if they arrive a little late.
The deployment of OneUI 6.1 is accompanied bya number of features that are not related to Galaxy’s AI. On the one hand, more widgets for the lock screen are offered with support for Samsung apps, like Samsung Health, and on the other hand, the company is rolling out its version of Android’s adaptive charging mode, Battery Protection. This feature helps ensure that your device does not stay fully charged in the dock all night, which would wear down the battery cycles. The update also includes the move to Quick Share with its official Google-via-Samsung name change.
For the moment, the exact release date of the One UI 6.1 update is still unknown. Samsung says it plans to offer Galaxy AI to “more than 100 million” of its users. It is therefore possible that other devices will be added to the update list.
