Check out what might just be the first-ever official render of Samsung’s next folding phone.

While the Z Fold5’s new hinge might be less durable than its competitors, it should still allow for a less noticeable crease than in the past.

The Galaxy Z Fold5 reveals its seams in a first render

We mentioned it a few weeks ago, this year, the future folding Samsung should land a little earlier on the market. Traditionally taking place during the month of August, Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked conference is likely to be held at the end of July. Anyway, among the rumors swirling around the Galaxy Z Fold5 is the presence of a brand new hinge. This would take the form of a drop of water, like the Motorola Razr, and would therefore aim to offer an almost imperceptible fold.

Today the site MySmartPrice shared an exclusive first rendering of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 (relayed by The Verge). The opportunity to finally discover what the next flagship with a folding screen from the Korean manufacturer will look like and to see if the rumors were true about the new hinge design.

Galaxy Z Fold5: smooth evolutions?

As we can see in the image below, the fold of the Galaxy Z Fold5 seems to leave relatively less space than on the previous model when the device is closed on itself. It even seems to close almost completely flat. Apart from the reworked hinge, the flash which has been moved and the frame of the screen which seems to have thinned slightly, we should obviously not expect any major design changes for the Galaxy Z Fold5. Finally, although the S Pen appears in the image, note that it will most likely be sold separately.

Still according to information held by MySmartPriceif the Galaxy Unpacked should normally be held on July 26, the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 should be marketed from August 11 in the United States and Canada.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4

  • Image quality of screens
  • OneUI 4.1.1 and its software suite
  • Very good overall performance

Little by little, Samsung is improving its folding smartphone intended for professional use. We appreciate the quality of the screens, the computing power available and the possibility of using an optional stylus. Other points of satisfaction: IPX8 compliance, improved shock resistance and autonomy that we consider very correct, if not excellent.

The main camera delivers very beautiful fixed or animated images. And if the foldable display’s front camera isn’t as good as hoped, it has the upside of becoming invisible when not in use.

So would the Z Fold 4 achieve perfection? Not yet. The crease of the screen is still noticeable under the finger and visible in certain situations. Let’s bet that technological progress will be able to correct this.
