Fortnite returns to iOS: Despite the dispute between Apple and Epic Games, the popular game is now available on the iPhone and iPad via a small detour. Microsoft and its cloud gaming platform make it possible.

From now on, Fortnite can also be played on the iPhone and iPad – without the Apple App Store, which the manufacturer Epic Games is still denied for its popular game. at Microsoft’s Xbox Cloud Gaming Fortnite is now ready. Since the cloud gaming platform cannot be found in the App Store either, Fortnite has to run on the iPhone and iPad via the Safari browser.

According to Microsoft, cloud gaming on Xbox.com is supported on iPhones and iPads running iOS 14.4 or later. Further requirements are an Internet connection with at least 10 Mbit/s and a Bluetooth or USB controller. Fortnite is free to playwith no installation or subscription required (source: 9to5Mac).

Via the Cloud Gaming Service GeForce Now by Nvidia there is another way to play Fortnite on the iPhone. The service, which was announced months ago, is still in the beta phase. Interested users can only be put on a waiting list so far.

Fortnite on iOS: Official support not in sight

It is unlikely that Fortnite will ever be officially available again in Apple’s App Store. Epic Games and Apple have been at odds in court for years. After a judgment in September 2021 the proceedings continue after an appeal.

In Google’s Play Store Fortnite is also not to be found. Android users can sideload the game onto their smartphone without having to rely on Google’s app store. To do this, the Epic Store must first be installed.
