Poland hides within itself many talents. CD Projekt RED is certainly the spearhead of the Polish video game industry, but a competing studio could well steal the spotlight in the years to come. Two projects currently in development adapted from major sagas of the country’s pop culture could change the situation and offer the Witcher rivals worthy of his young legend.

The good news is sent to us by the communications teams at Mighty Koi studios. Founded in 2022 and two years later with around a hundred employees distributed between the Warsaw and Lublin offices, They are currently working on two video games taking as their setting universes known to fans of dark fantasy. These projects qualified as AA+ / AAA are developed under Unreal Engine 5 and supported by a company which wishes to double its workforce by the end of 2024. Might Koi is on a mission and does not hide it. With Thorgal and The Night Wanderer, they wish to conquer not only the Polish market, but also the international one, with the aim of making two Polish lore known to as many people as possible with the potential to become successors to “The Witcher”.

The video game “The Night Wanderer”

The Night Wanderer is presented as an action-adventure game with role-playing mechanics and having as main models the productions stamped From Software. Might Koi defines this video game experience based on an “innovative combat system” as a sub-like. The story is based on the “Lord of the Ice Garden” book series written by Jarosław Grzędowicz. With four volumes, this literary saga skillfully combines science fiction and dark fantasy, which is rare enough to be noted. Players will assume the role of Vuki Drakkainen, a mercenary missioned to the planet Midgaard to find a missing scientific expeditionary force. Finally, the author of the novels is a consultant on The Night Wanderer.

The Night Wanderer will be released on a date still unknown on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

The video game “Thorgal”

Might Koi took the opportunity to announce a brand new project which should bring back good memories to readers of the “Thorgal” comic strip. Created in 1977 and since translated into 18 languages, the series has sold more than 20 million copies worldwide with its 41 volumes published during its half-century of existence. We know very little about this adventure video game “Thorgal” mixed with an RPG overlay. Players will take on the role of Thorgal Aegirsson, the Viking protagonist of the comics, in his quest to protect his family and seek revenge on the gods. The first visuals seem to want to pay homage to the features and the very particular atmosphere of the source material while taking advantage of a game engine which has proven itself on several ambitious productions.

Thorgal will be released on a date still unknown on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
