A few days ago, we were able to get our hands on the early access of No Rest for the Wicked, the new game from the creators of Ori… What does that give? Answer in our preview video.

After two parts of Ori, the developers at Moon Studios are moving away from the metroidvania… Their new project, No Rest for the Wicked, is a demanding action-RPG with an isometric camera! We warn you, it’s almost as demanding as Dark Souls, with the addition of an artistic direction that is both superb and original. The project created a surprise when it was announced at the Game Awards 2023. Today, we were able to discover the first area of ​​early access, which will arrive on PC in the coming months. “Reinventing the genre”

On Steam, Moon Studios announces the color: the team wants to “reinvent” the demanding action-RPG. To do this, Ori’s dads twist a few key elements of the genre (even if it means distorting it a little). For example, enemies do not come back to life after a failure and there is no experience | object to pick up from his corpse. Also, healing items are not limited and do not require returning to a checkpoint to regenerate. As long as you have the necessary resources, you can cook as many homemade meals as you want here (at least in this Early Access).

One in the other… No Rest for the Wicked lets you explore a little more leisurely than other games of the genre (it is also possible to climb almost everywhere and swim) even if you lose some tension! In any case, the Moon Studios project manages to create its own identity, all the more so with sumptuous artistic direction. The settings are lively and detailed, but the experience will not be a walk in the park. As in any good demanding action-RPG, a mistake can very quickly be fatal, and the fights require (well) reading enemy gestures and knowing the different timing of attacks. However: these action phases are weighed down by camera problems. We hope that this black point will be resolved in 1.0 of No Rest for the Wicked.
