Recently interviewed by IGN, the director behind Souls shared an interesting perspective on Elden Ring, which he said would never have become what it is now without Dark Souls II. Regarding Dark Souls II, I personally think that it was an excellent project for us, and that without it we would not have been able to have all the connections and all the ideas that were subsequently implemented and which carried the rest of the game. series. Passing the torch

With Dark Souls II, Hidetaka Miyazaki also allowed himself to let go of his creation for the duration of an opus and to give way to other directors. Dark Souls II was co-directed by Tomohiro Shibuya and Yui Tanimura and the latter later co-directed Elden Ring alongside the studio president. At the time of the design of this second opus, Hidetaka Miyazaki only did supervisory work, a role that he still intends to adopt for future projects, before completely passing the torch to new developers.

I believe it is very likely that we will see new directors in the future. And I believe that if we do that, then I would like to step away from that supervisory role and give them full control of these projects. I sincerely think that this is the best and easiest way for them to flourish within this environment with these new projects.

Hidetaka Miyazaki has already had the opportunity to leave his place to another FromSoftware developer.
