MMORPGs, time-consuming video games
In the world of video games, there are few titles that take you beyond a hundred hours. They exist but are few in number. Personally, I have rarely gone beyond this symbolic level. Even my journey on the exceptional Final Fantays VII Rebirth only reached 90 hours. However, one genre of video games is much more time-consuming than the others: that of online video games, and more particularly massively multiplayer games. With the extensions that arrive year after year, it is easy to invest your time here and there until you exceed 100 hours on the clock.
Since 2013 and its redesign, Final Fantasy 14 has been one of those games that is easily time-consuming. The game is full of content to do: there are multiple stories, several expansions; a mess of activities. Sometimes it takes some play time to enjoy a particular area or side quest. Something Robert Harper realized. The actor decided to invest 194 hours of his time in Final Fantasy 14 to pay tribute to Stephen Critchlow, a colleague who died a year earlier. He explains to GamesRadar what pushed him to make this journey:
As the anniversary of Stephen’s death approached, I started thinking about him, about our time together in the ’90s, and remembering how much the community of Stephen loved him. Final Fantasy 14. Final Fantasy XIV: almost 200 hours on the clock
