COD Gulf War in 2024?
The information is not new: it has been said unofficially for quite a while now and in particular via the media Insider Gaming specializing in scoops and other leaks, that this year’s Call of Duty would plunge us into the Gulf War.
For its part, Windows Central affirmed that the 2024 episode would again be a Black Ops, potentially unnumbered as was the Black Ops Cold War of 2020: from there to believe that thehe next game is called Call of Duty Black Ops Gulf War, there is not just one step that many are already taking more less. The insider (who has already proven his legitimacy a bunch of times through the media in question, notably on the subject of Call of Duty) therefore returns with new information and according to him, this “Black Ops Gulf War” would radically contrast with what the old Call of Duty offered: the single-player campaign would be in an open world. Just that !
A Far Cry with a Call of Duty twist?
Last year, Call of Duty Modern Warfare III featured a single-player campaign with a few open-area missions. The problem is that they clearly felt reheated and it is not the investigations into the rushed development, supported by crunch, which will have really indicated the opposite. However, here this hypothetical “Black Ops Gulf War” would be very different since Insider Gaming confirms from a reliable source that the single-player “was built from scratch” on the concept of the open world.
Still according to the site, “the game’s open world will see the player and their team navigate a map closer to that of Far Cry than anything we’ve seen before in the Call of Duty universe”. We could therefore drive vehicles to move around or use rapid travel points, with certain missions which would however remain linear.
Another important point: this campaign would be developed by Raven Software, the studio that usually takes care of multiplayer and Zombie mode. Well-known characters from the Black Ops saga would also make their return, like Adler: in short, we will wait to find out more… probably in the coming months. Obviously, even.
