While Final Fantasy fans have very good reasons to welcome this extra day with joy (leap year requires), they also have a reason to mourn it. This game, which is therefore not FF7 Rebirth, is simply unplayable…

February 29, FF7 Rebirth day

You may not have noticed, but this month of February 2024 is a little longer than usual. 2024 is in fact a leap year. If you ever, ever hear this word for the first time, know that a leap year is a year that has 366 days instead of 365. “Why the hell Jamy?” Well it’s simply to bridge the time gap between the common calendar year and the solar year. This is why every four years, a day is added to the calendar: February 29. Being February 29th is a small event in itself. But that of the year 2024 is clearly to be marked with a white stone.

For what ? Well, because it was this day that the Square Enix teams chose to release an extremely anticipated game: Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. The sequel to the FF7 remake is therefore available, to the delight of players eager to discover the rest of Cloud’s adventures from a new angle. This release is even more of an event as the game is extremely well rated. With us, it scored 19 out of 20 (see our test). Overall, the press around the world shares our opinion since the game recorded an excellent score of 92 out of 100. This makes it the highest rated game of the year on Metacritic at the moment. So much good news on February 29, right? Well not really for fans of that other Final Fantasy game.

Theatrhythm Final Bar Line unplayable

Disaster on FF7 Rebirth release day. This Final Fantasy video game is simply unplayable, the developers forgot there was a February 29

Obviously too obsessed with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Square Enix forgot that February 29 also existed for other games in the license, such as the rhythm game Theatrhythm Final Bar Line. And yet, its Metacritic is not far from that of FF7 Rebirth (87) and it has many fans. Fans are now left in the lurch since the developers have apparently forgotten the existence of this day. The problem is that to play Theatrhythm Final Bar Line, you have to connect to Square Enix’s servers. As a result, the game is simply unplayable…

Vooks still found a simple solution for you: All you need to do is change the date on your console to avoid this little calendar glitch. We hope that Square Enix will still do something to change this, even if the company certainly has other fish to fry when it comes to the word. Launch days within the studios are always as busy as they are special.
