The video game of the decade could already disappoint fans, even before it shows up. Rockstar is not in a very good period

It’s hard to say that the year 2023 of video games did not end on a high note. In addition to having offered a very large number of high-quality titles, such as The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Alan Wake II and Baldur’s Gate III which was voted game of the year, this year ended with the first images of Grand Theft Auto VI. After leaks in 2022 and a plethora of more or less likely theories, Rockstar has finally revealed the trailer for the sixth opus of this ultra cult video game saga. This short video was a real tidal wave on the Internet, with everyone talking about it on social networks. Many had fun imagining what this title could include, whether in terms of story or gameplay.
For the moment, the North American company behind this cult license has revealed very little information on the subject. All we know is that rappers Schoolboy Q and T-Pain are collaborating with the studio to work on the soundtrack and that this long-awaited title should see the light of day in 2025. However, even if some had speculated that GTA 6 would be released in the third quarter of the following year, development would have been significantly delayed…
GTA 6 in 2026?
While it was not uncommon to see Internet users assuming that GTA 6 will be released at the end of 2025, it seems that it is not going at all as planned on the development side. Anonymous sources told Kotaku that this new opus has fallen considerably behind schedule and that management has asked employees to come and work full-time in the premises, because they fear an exit in 2026. In other words, it seems that Rockstar is still targeting a release for the second (spring) quarter or third quarter (fall). However, one must be optimistic to imagine that such an anticipated game will arrive as soon as possible. Delaying its release to 2026 could be Rockstar’s last resort option, if everything doesn’t go at all as planned. Only time will tell us when GTA 6 will finally see the light of day.
