For years, massively multiplayer online role-playing games (also called MMORPGs) have served as a gauge when testing players’ resolve. There is no shortage of challenges in this type of production, but the players like to set their own rules. Recently, a player achieved the goal he set for himself and showed unfailing determination, even after 2500 hours of play!

MMOs, the place for all the challenges from players

No matter the genre, there have always been spectacular challenges in the world of video games. Challenge after challenge, players rack their brains to find the next objective that will make them surpass themselves. As we said, this type of feat can be found in all styles of video games, even if there is one that comes up more frequently: that of MMOs! From time to time, we briefly recount some exploits, and that of the YouTuber and content creator Limpwurt that we are going to mention is quite remarkable.

Through the stage OldSchool RuneScape, Limpwurt’s name is extremely well known, especially because he constantly pushes back the challenges he can throw at himself in this MMO. Today, there are a considerable number of rules in OldSchool RuneScape (shortened to OSRS). However, as everyone knows, the rules are made to be circumvented, twisted in all directions or even… hardened! In January 2021, Limpwurt therefore takes on the challenge of completing a run (the equivalent of a game) called “Xtreme Onechunk Inronman”.. After months and months, or 2500 hours of play, Limpwurt has triumphed!

2500 hours of gameplay to complete one of the longest and crazy challenges

With such an objective in mind, Limpwurt did not make the task easy, especially since, as we said, it imposed a few additional rules on itself with, for example, the obligation to complete all the highest skill challenges (including skill capes) and complete all tasks available in the Adventurer’s Log. As if all this wasn’t enough, of course he had to obtain almost all the monster collectibles and those present in the different zones as well as the unique rewards of each mini-game.

However, it must be understood that this challenge was above all subject to organizational rules since the Ironman restriction makes it impossible for him to exchange objects with other players, while the Chunk restriction means that the entire of the map is cut in the form of a grid which gradually expands over time thanks to random dice rolls. There is no doubt that we had to devote more than 2500 hours to it to see the end of it! Obviously proud of his performance, Limpwurt shared it on the OSRS subreddit, receiving a shower of upvotes and an avalanche of congratulatory comments from other players who admitted ” amazed by his raw will ” and who can’t believe that ” this fool really did it “.
