It’s a tidal wave of bad reviews (and sometimes even more) that is destroying the Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection compilation. Torpedoed by the first buyers, it is now at the heart of another controversy!

When you look at the dark side, beware…

This brave Yoda would probably have warned future buyers of the new Star Wars compilation. Available since March 14 on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection is taking a real beating on the Internet and in the Steam comments. With extremely negative reviews, Aspyr’s protégé obviously needed several months of additional development. Reading the feedback from Internet users, we witness a torrent of disappointment: commands that do not respond, game crashes, technical bugs galore, servers that do not support connections…

The list is long enough to fuel the anger of buyers and it is all the more ludicrous since the compilation, which brings together the two Star Wars Battlefront games, requires… 62 GB of free space where originals do not exceed 12 GB. Obviously, the studio is aware of all the problems and is trying to correct this as quickly as possible, but it will undoubtedly take much more to calm the anger of fans of George Lucas’ work.

When the road is not safe, you have to wait

To top it all off, it seems that a controversy is thickening over the presence of elements coming from… an amateur modder. Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection would have used 3D objects reworked by this fan, without him being credited. Concretely, without realizing it, the developers of Aspyr would have integrated an unofficial mod – which has since been corrected – which highlights a reworked version of Asajj Ventress in the mod of user iamashaymin. The character model has been replaced, but the damage is done and the person concerned strongly regrets being linked to such a berezina. Other modders are also looking into the code to make sure their work hasn’t been stolen…

It is therefore a new thorn under our side which is added to the ordeal of this compilation. Practically released to general indifference, it is now in the middle of a storm and this is making all the more noise as Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster, available since February 28, 2024, is enjoying great success. Developed by Nightdive Studios, the remaster has been the subject of real care and even if some think that it is a little expensive, we are in the presence of a very pleasant game. Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection may be back on track, but according to the players, there’s work to be done.
