We can’t wait to see the release of the next Assassin’s Creed in Japan! No information has yet been revealed by Ubisoft, which increases our expectations for this next title. Which ones? Come discover them in our JV Debate.

Announced in 2022, the next Assassin’s Creed title Codename Red is expected to be the franchise’s next big hit, immersing players in feudal Japan. Developed by Ubisoft, this new open world opus is part of a long list of future games in the license, alongside projects such as Assassin’s Creed Hexe and Assassin’s Creed Infinity. While we impatiently awaited this next opus, the editor asked a lot of questions: what does Codename Red need to be a game that exceeds our expectations? Should we return to more traditional gameplay? Our JV Debate will undoubtedly bring you ideas!

Ubisoft must take inspiration from the best!

On the one hand, the integration of Japanese mythology could be in continuity with the previous opuses of the saga: Yokais, Japanese gods and other elements of Japanese mythology should be integrated to offer epic boss fights and an immersive experience, like Sekiro. These additions could enrich the universe without necessarily impacting the main story. On the other hand, the organic pace of exploration could be inspired by Ghost of Tsushima. The game should adopt “natural” explorationguiding players through subtle visual and audio elements rather than an overload of map markers.

Openworld, gameplay… Ubisoft must be careful!

However, you must be careful not to offer an excessively large card. It is essential not to repeat the error of previous opuses like Valhalla and Odyssey, which suffered from a map that was too vast, diluting players’ interest in an overloaded open world. A more concentrated and dense approach, like Cyberpunk, would maintain players’ attention while providing an immersive experience. Additionally, combat should not be focused solely on character level, as was the case in previous games. It is essential to adopt a more lively and dynamic combat system, like Sekiro. To discover our other fears, it’s happening in our JV Debate!
