Ghosts’n Goblins Resurrection

A small price for a great difficulty! Released in 1985 in arcades, Ghosts’n Goblins is known for the hair-pulling challenge it offers. Rarely demanding, this 2D platformer takes place in a universe haunted by the living dead, demons, and other ghosts. To save the princess, Arthur must brave many dangers using his magic spells and his spear.

It was difficult at the time of its release, it still is in 2024! Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection is a careful rereading of the original work, both in terms of its new gameplay mechanics and its execution. In addition, the software has the good idea of being accompanied by the addition of a skill tree and a cooperative mode. As we said in our review, rediscovering this Capcom classic as a duo is a good way to give it a second chance.

Born on obscure Japanese computers called MSX, the Metal Gear series took off on PlayStation, Sony’s first console, with one episode that remains in the memory: Metal Gear Solid. Revolutionary in its time, this 3D game left a lasting impression with its ingenious ideas and exciting storyline.

Cult video game saga, Metal Gear Solid remains equal to itself and this compilation reminds us of all the qualities of the works of Japanese creator Hideo Kojima. This compilation contains Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake and Metal Gear Solid (with VR Missions/Special Missions). Let it be said, it’s always a real pleasure to do each episode in chronological order (or not) and to relive some of the most epic moments in video game history.

Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate

Although originally released on PlayStation in 2004, it was especially the PSP episode that propelled the popularity of the license. For its first appearance on Switch, the saga preferred to settle for a port of Monster Hunter XX, a 3DS episode previously exclusive to the Japanese archipelago. From the first moments in any case, we realize that Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is intended to be much less flexible than Monster Hunter World. Here, there is no storyline or twists and turns, the strength of this port lies in the richness of its content, the bestiary and the arsenal.

Generations Ultimate should be seen as a “best of” which displays its generosity, but also its demands. Far from the visual standards of 2024, it must be admitted, Capcom’s software suffers from obvious technical shortcomings which have inevitably aged poorly. Although it takes a long time to master and has a rigidity that could put off some players, it offers an exciting challenge that is still worth the detour today. Archaic, certainly, but exciting, especially in multiplayer.

Gear.Club Unlimited 2 – Definitive Edition

Yes, Gear.Club Unlimited 2 is very close to its predecessor. We find the same menus and an almost identical progression. Like the previous part, progression is effectively carried out via points on a map which represent events with, as a result, credits which allow you to acquire new cars.

Designed by Eden Games (Test Drive Unlimited, Alone in the Dark), Gear.Club Unlimited 2 erases the main flaws of the original and offers Switch owners the opportunity to have fun behind the wheel of road monsters on the TV, under the duvet or on the go. Certainly, there is little competition in the medium, and yes, it has nothing to do with Forza or Gran Turismo, but it nonetheless remains a good cash game on Nintendo’s little hybrid.

Assassin’s Creed: The Rebel Collection

Taking place in the world of piracy, Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag and Assassin’s Creed Rogue are two parts featuring different characters but with similar gameplay. And these are the two opuses that you can find in Assassin’s Creed: The Rebel Collection. While for a few episodes now, the saga has evolved towards the open world sprinkled with RPG elements, the two parts that interest us here have this “old-fashioned” structure that some fans really like, even though it would have a little aged.

  • Buy Assassin’s Creed: The Rebel Collection for €14.99 on Switch (-70%) instead of €49.99 on the Nintendo eShop
  • End of offer on 03/17/2024

Of course, these two episodes of Assassin’s Creed show the weight of the years a little, but Black Flag and Rogue nonetheless remain safe values for those who wish to immerse themselves in the world of piracy. You can imagine that with such a duo, you will get your money’s worth thanks to the tons of additional activities and large levels to explore. This compilation also contains all the DLC released to date, but the Black Flag multiplayer is unfortunately not included.
