It’s been almost a month since the servers of a legendary console generation have been closed. Although most gamers move on, a handful of users continue to stay online across different games, and even manage to break records!
The shutdown of Nintendo servers for 3DS and Wii U consoles on April 8, 2024 should have meant the end of any possibility of being connected online to console games. However, 7 passionate players refused to accept this reality and have kept their system online for 29 days, defying all expectations. They thus broke a longevity record, far surpassing the previous holders of the title, the last Halo 2 enthusiasts who lasted 25 days, 1 hour and 58 minutes.
These players have chosen to extend their online gaming experience despite the official shutdown of the servers.

The Resistant 7 are currently found in several games: Pokémon XY, Mario Kart 7, Super Mario Maker, Xenoblade Chronicles X and Splatoon. In Splatoon, player Lcd101 shares on his X account what’s been happening there since the beginning of April.
