It’s now four years since Death Stranding was released and no, it still hasn’t finished its long journey: it will be released very soon on… mobiles. And for now, it is Apple which will grant itself this exclusivity.
Walk, everywhere, all the time
You can love or hate Death Stranding, but you can’t take one thing away from Kojima Productions: the studio attempted something deliberately unique. A real video game UFO, not accessible in the least but based on obvious narrative strengths and a very unique game design, not to mention a gameplay where contemplation and atmosphere often take over.
First released on PlayStation 4, the title was subsequently exported to PC, PlayStation 5 and even Xbox: however, it was missing a box to check on its list… and no, it’s not Nintendo Switch since the software will arrive very quickly on iOS.
The news is actually not new since during the announcement of the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max, we learned that Apple had developed an architecture capable of accommodating certain home console titles /PC: Resident Evil 4 Remake, Resident Evil Village (already released, by the way), but also Death Stranding: Director’s Cut were then confirmed.
In short, we now have a release date for this unusual port, which will also be iPad and Mac compatible: January 30, 2024, just a few days.
A unique port
Death Stranding: Director’s Cut can now be pre-ordered on the AppStore for the sum of 22.99 euros, a nice reduction of 50% compared to the original price. Important information, but it is a crossplatform pack, allowing the title to be played on iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, but also iPad or Mac. It’s up to you to see what you have on hand.
The game page on the store also allows us to have a technical detail that may make you dizzy: the game will weigh no less than 69.8 GB, just that. Suffice to say that depending on your iPhone 15, you may need to make room. For the rest, we remind you that it will not be a different version from that already sold on PC and consoles: it will be the exact same title, but with graphics optimization made to work on iPhone and with the possibility of playing it using the touch screen.
