Game of the round – targeting 500s: Knefz with goal avalanche!

The top game in the Oberland between Trieben and Landl in the Enns regional league drew the crowds. Striker veteran Domenic Knefz continued to increase his hit account in the “game of the round” of the “Steirerkrone”.

Curtain up for the bus drivers! While dozens of fan buses made their way from Sturm to Klagenfurt for the cup final on Sunday, two boisterous companions with FC Landl supporters rushed to Trieben on Saturday for the hit of the Enns regional league. “Our fans are amazing, we want to set up two buses again for the next game after Stein,” said Landl’s chairman Josef Taschner to the “Krone”. Then a victory should look out – in Trieben it was “Landunter” for Landl. Although the guests were overwhelmingly superior in the first half, the fans didn’t see any goals for the time being. “Thanks to our goalie Manuel Koller,” as Trieben sports director Johann Danklmaier noted. Koller was powerless in the 72nd minute, Patrick Arrer made it 1-0. But what followed was 15 crazy minutes! Trieben coach Marko Pichler changed the system, Sebastian Blatt equalized. And then came the appearance of Domenic Knefz! Within seven minutes, Trieben’s striker, who had already scored 490 goals in 546 games (!) in the lower house, turned everything upside down! 3:1! “I tried for Domenic for weeks, called him 200 times!” said Danklmaier. “He is the be-all and end-all of our squad and is well-known throughout Upper Styria. He can be a bit moody every now and then, but he’s simply irreplaceable.” Derby flood in the lower league The future planning in Trieben is now clear: “We’re first, we want to go to the lower league. Then we have district derbies against Gaishorn or Admont, that’s when the masses come! There would then be a spectacle like this almost every week,” says Danklmaier. “The game against Wörschach, who is second in the table, will be decisive!” Philipp Braunegger
