The Xbox application on Windows, essential to take advantage of Xbox Game Pass (called PC Game Pass), sees the arrival of new features that will greatly facilitate the lives of players.
Xbox announced it last November, it’s now done: the application now allows games to be installed in any folder. These new features were already available to Windows Insiders: they are now available to everyone.

Apart from the fact that it is always more pleasant to be able to choose the installation location of your games, which now regularly exceed 70 GB, this new option is above all excellent news for the integration of mods.
Modding in sight for the Xbox app
One of the big advantages of playing on PC (among others) rather than on console is the possibility of modifying the game by adding mods. These can greatly improve the graphical rendering of a game, but also correct certain defects and add missing features. Some mods are even real DLC, and others, likeenderal for Skyrimcompletely change the experience.
However, most often, to install these modifications, it is necessary to touch certain files of the game, and therefore to have access to them. Windows had already started timidly opening Xbox Game Pass to mods almost two years ago, but at the time it was still not possible to access the files.
Until now, the Xbox application installed the downloaded game in a dedicated WindowsApps folder. It was then impossible to move the files or modify them. Now, when installing a new game, the application allows you to choose the installation folder, as is the case in any launcher or game store.
The user can also move the files of a game without having to re-download it: you will not need to reinstall your existing games to take advantage of these new options. Just right-click on the game of your choice to be able to manage the files.
Xbox therefore continues to improve the interface of its application, showcase of the Xbox Game Pass which has met with great success.
