Gameplay for the Half-Life Alyx mod

The PC Gaming Show was an opportunity to discover the Half-Life Levitation mod for Half-Life Alyx. A big part of the show since we could see 8 minutes of gameplay.

The virtual reality game Half-Life Alyx has the right to a mod called Levitation which should notably offer the possibility of playing several hours of play with a brand new scenario. Within the team of creators we can notably mention Shawn Snelling or Corey Laddo as well as voice actors and volunteer animators (it is important to note this). These two amateur developers are known to gravitate around Valve games like Counter Strike: Global: Offensive or G-Man memes.

Long and free

For a purely amateur VR mod, we will all the same have the right to a campaign with 4 and 5 hours of play and everything will be completely free. Creating the VR mod posed a challenge for the Levitation team, and according to Laddo, it was much more complicated than typical modding projects.

It’s definitely a breath of fresh air to animate a character completely like this rather than a meme

A new scenario for this Half-Life mod

The objective of the mod is also to introduce new characters of the resistance even if it is possible to cross familiar faces. The obvious reason is also the impossibility (or the very low probability) of recruiting the original voice actors of the game Alyx.

Laddo wants to be optimized for the rest of the Half-Life adventure and declares:

The hardware is constantly improving year after year, and we’ve had a lot of great games so far like Boneworks that have really pushed the boundaries of VR game design. I think PSVR 2 could end up making a big contribution to the future of VR if it’s a success.

The game mod is planned for 2022 on PC (in virtual reality of course).
