To make people forget the last publicity stunt that backfired, Forspoken offers itself a long video. A new opportunity to judge the gameplay which looks quite dynamic and satisfying.
The latest Forspoken trailer did not reassure the most skeptical. Far from it even since it had been parodied by the players. But in the middle of Gamescom 2022, Square Enix reacts with a big gameplay video here.
10 minutes of gameplay for Forspoken
Frey Holland, played by Ella Balinska, is a “dreamer, New Yorker and cat lover who will be transported to the beautiful and dangerous world of Athia”. And thanks to a bracelet that gives her magical powers, she will be able to cleanse this universe of corrupt enemies. Knowing that the game deals with dark themes, perhaps the world of Athia and its monsters refer to the heroine’s experience.
In Forspoken, you can visit the only place safe from threats: Cipal. A place where you will meet refugees, where you can accept quests or even haggle with the inhabitants. The more Frey gains in mana, leveling up or harvesting it from the environment, the more new spells she will unlock.
While there are a lot of unknowns about the title and its final quality, the gameplay video is engaging. Why ? The fights seem successful with good dynamism and effects in all directions. Admittedly, however, the graphic slap does not seem there. We will see once the game is in hand, because everything can change for good or bad, but these excerpts of clashes are rather reassuring.
Forspoken is coming January 24, 2023 to PS5 and PC.
