Surprise ! A second version of the PS5 DualSense controller is appearing at select retailers.

It’s here, V2 of the DualSense controller! On Cultureit is currently sold at the price of €69.99 and is offered in particular for in-store delivery from January 12, i.e. tomorrow. You can also find the new controller at other regular resellers such as Fnac, or even Boulanger, although availability is very limited. The design remains the same, the most notable new feature of this brand new version would be that it has better autonomy. However, French blinds remain very mysterious in the descriptions given and It is mainly the English-speaking site of Best Buy which goes into details, still mentioning an “exceptional autonomy of 12 hours, with a full charge, for long gaming sessions.”

Take the game into your own hands with the PlayStation 5 V2 DualSense wireless controller. With dynamic triggers, a built-in microphone and more, this gamepad delivers a truly immersive experience. Iconic, comfortable design lets you play for hours and hours – Best Buy

If this turns out to be true, this would relieve less conscientious players like me, who are often forced to play with the controller plugged in, in an uncomfortable position with a charging cable that is much too short. Currently, the pad maintains approximately 6 hours of battery life on really demanding games. And the more high-end DualSense Edge disappointed gamers, offering almost the same battery as the original DualSense. Sony even indicated that the autonomy of the pro controller was “moderately lower” to that of the basic DualSense.

Best Buy’s ad also mentions an included charging station that would allow for “easy one-click charging,” which would still be a nice perk. Here again, this new feature is not yet specified on our French-speaking resellers. The rest of the elements of the pad remain essentially the same, whether the triggers or the haptic feedback. So, is Best Buy getting carried away or does this controller benefit from better battery life? We remain doubtful until more official confirmation exists.

Last December, a completely different rumor about the DualSense…

It was already rumored last December that Sony was meticulously developing a new version of the DualSense controller. We were nevertheless talking about new elements which are not indicated on the official description, such as indications on the gameplay by illuminating the buttons, triggers and analog sticks. It was even said that the controller would include a touch screen instead of a touch pad, as revealed by a patent which, remember, should never be taken literally. The patent, filed on November 30, described an assistance solution capable of constantly monitoring the player’s performance and determining when he might need help. Sony may be saving the idea for later.
