  • We have summarized the most important things for you.

Garmin would like to release one feature update for its products every quarter in the future, which will add new functions and fix bugs. Not only the smartwatches should benefit from the updates, but also other wearables and bicycle computers. The first update called “Q3” is already available for download.

For smartwatches, it brings the following innovations:

  • What’s New: Since many updates run in the background and some innovations remain undiscovered, “What’s New” is intended to provide an overview of all changes.
  • SatIQ: In order to maximize battery life and guarantee optimal position accuracy, SatIQ automatically switches on additional satellite systems (eg Galileo) and the second GPS frequency band when they are needed for better satellite reception.
  • Heart Rate Variability Status (HRV Status): With the new update, heart rate variability can be measured during sleep. This allows average values to be generated and you get interesting insights into your own health.
  • Competition widget: This new widget is ideal for professionals and prepares them for an upcoming competition. These include a performance prediction, race day weather and a countdown clock.
  • Updated training status: With the help of several indicators (e.g. HRV status) your training status can be calculated even more precisely. In addition, even deeper insights into the overall effort and long-term training habits are made possible.
  • Willingness to train: Based on your health data, your smartwatch can now estimate when you and your body are ready for the next workout.
  • Direction Arrows: When navigating, directional arrows now show you the right way in real time.
  • Stock widget: With the Stocks widget you are always up-to-date, because it provides an overview of up to 50 stocks.
  • CreateFolders: In order not to lose track, you can now create folders. Different clusters can be created in the widget view and all important data can be displayed in one folder with one click.

You can enjoy the new features if you own a model of the fenix 7 series, the epix (Gen 2), the Instinct 2 series or the Forerunner 945 LTE. Wearers of the MARQ collection, fenix 6 series or Enduro 1 also benefit from the feature update with new functions such as heart rate variability recording, optimized training status or e-bike support.

In addition to the smartwatches, the bike computers of the “Edge 1040” series also have new features, namely the following:

  • music control: With the new update you can control your music directly on the Edge.
  • Updated training status: The Edge series can now also make use of the updated training status.
  • Intensity Minutes: The Edge 1040 can now also count intensity minutes and include them in your training accordingly.
  • E-bike support: It is now possible to pair an ANT+ compatible e-bike with the cycling computer to display e-bike data, adjust support levels and display the remaining range on a planned route.
