In an interview with the Times of London, Gary Oldman reveals that he could end his career in the next few years.
He is one of those actors that we did not imagine stopping so soon. In an interview with the Times, Gary Oldman proves us wrong. The one who is currently in the credits of the AppleTV+ series Slow Horses has indeed declared:
“I had an enviable career but careers are declining and I have interests other than film. When you’re young, you think you can do all of these things at the same time, but the years go by.
I will be 65 next year and 70 is approaching. I don’t see myself being an actor when I’m 80. It would be an honor and a privilege to end the character of Jackson Lamb and then officially hang up.”
This character he is talking about is the one he plays in Slow Horses, the adaptation of the novels Slough House by Mick Herron.
We follow British intelligence agents sent to an obscure department – a sort of junkyard – of MI5. The cause: the many mistakes they have made and which are slowly leading them to the end of their career…
Rest assured, Oldman does not intend to stop in the coming weeks since he has signed for four seasons of Slow Horses with Apple TV + (the second will be available from December 2).
Not to mention the films he has already made. We can find him in the cinema on July 19, 2023 in Oppenheimer, the next Christopher Nolan, where he will play President Truman… for a short scene. A reunion with the one who had directed him in the Batman films.
