Gasoline & electric motor – Now comes the first motorcycle with hybrid drive!

It seems as if Kawasaki is currently racing ahead of the other major manufacturers: After announcing that it would offer the electric models Ninja e-1 and the Z e-1 in the light motorcycle class, the Japanese are now presenting the world’s first hybrid series motorcycle.

The Ninja 7 Hybrid has a 451 cubic centimeter in-line two-cylinder that is coupled to an electric motor with a boost function. The twin produces 60 hp, the electric motor contributes a further 7.5 kW/10 hp. It can be switched on manually or in auto mode. Kawasaki promises performance at the 700 level, the acceleration value from zero to 100 km/h should be close to the one-liter class and the consumption should not be higher than with a 250. The Kawasaki Ninja 7 Hybrid has a stop-start system. Automatic, a walk mode for maneuvering maneuvers and can also cover short distances at low speeds purely electrically. It should come onto the market in January. A selling price has not yet been announced. (aum)
