Gastro opening – “Looking forward to finally being able to open the door”


Refurbished dining rooms? New menus? Or freshly completed conversions? Salzburg’s restaurateurs and hoteliers are looking forward to the opening full of anticipation. “We are fully booked over Pentecost,” says landlord Monika Lixl-Putz. A “Krone” local inspection shortly before the end of the mandatory Corona break.

In the Weintraube in Seekirchen, the landlords used the lockdown. The dining room was revamped, the menu revised and new wines were selected: Landlady Eva Wörle and her team were not idle during the corona-related gastro closure. Now the anticipation of being able to serve guests in your Heuriger again soon is all the greater. “In a full dining room it feels like in a living room to me – most of all we look forward to being in contact with the guests again soon,” says Eva Wörle. Your reservation book will be quite full from May 19th. “I do believe that a lot of guests will come at the beginning. But due to the strict Corona rules, I expect about half of normal business, ”she says.

Pongauer Wirt cooks up with a new style

Siegfried Ratgeb was not bored during the lockdown: In addition to take-away offers, the boss of the Bürglhöh restaurant and his team worked on new culinary treasures. From May 19, Ratgeb will be showing off with new dishes, such as sushi or tartare made from fish from its own farm. “We’re really looking forward to unlocking the room, the reservation book is already well filled,” says Ratgeb.

Tree ready after conversion

“At first it will be cozy, but on the weekend it will rattle a lot.” Herbert Hamoser from the Baumbar in Kaprun can no longer wait for the gastro opening on May 19th. The reservation books are full – even if the popular party bar is initially only allowed to keep open until 10 p.m. “People are extremely motivated, even if they have to sit down,” says Hamoser. The outside area of ​​the restaurant has been renewed and is now covered and heated. “That will benefit us, also in winter in the future.” All employees remained loyal to the company during the mandatory break, 30 people are returning from short-time work.

Wanderlust brings full beds at Pentecost

We are fully booked over Pentecost, “says Monika Lixl-Putz. The boss of the Stallerhof in Scheffau is delighted: The ten rooms of her bed & breakfast are in high demand on the first weekend after the grand opening. “In the meantime we were already open for business travelers, but the whole thing was manageable,” says Lixl-Putz. She and her family used the time during the lockdowns extensively: It wasn’t just floor sanding that was on the agenda for a long time. The rooms were also freshly painted, the windows of the house replaced. Few bookings have come in for June, “people are in a waiting position”, explains the hostess, who lures with free cancellation up to 24 hours before arrival.
