Gaumont Classique: a streaming platform for black and white films

Gaumont is launching its own SVoD platform dedicated to black and white films. For 5 € monthly or 50 € per year, you can see or review more than 200 titles by Lautner, Fellini, Malle or Chabrol, as well as documentaries and archives.

And one more streaming platform, one! Absent from the market until now, Gaumont has just launched Gaumont Classique, a paying service dedicated to black and white films from around the world. For €5 monthly or €50 annually, subscribers will have access to more than 200 feature films and nearly 70 hours of video supplements (documentaries, interviews, archive images, etc.). Every month new movies will be added.

Among the titles already present in the catalog, we find great classics such as The gunslinger uncles, eight and a half, The handsome Sergius, The lovers or The crossing of Paris. From May 17, a collection will be added to celebrate the Cannes Film Festival and the films that marked it. The niche is reminiscent of other French platforms, in particular Madelen or La Cinetek.

Films dating back to 1913

On the technical side, it must be recognized that Gaumont has taken care of the appearance of its platform, which recalls the classics of the genre such as Netflix or Disney +, from which many other French platforms have already been inspired. Movies can be sorted by genre or decade, from the 1960s to Ghosts of 1913.

It is possible to use up to five different devices per account, and stream on PC, Mac or via the iOS and Android mobile applications, compatible with Chromecast and AirPlay. The content can be viewed in HD, sometimes without soundtrack for the oldest films.
