Gears 6 is awaited by an army of fans, but it almost never gets talked about and the little we hear comes from rumors in the corridors… But that might be about to change…
If last year Xbox had very large cartridges in its barrel, this year, it looks rather lean. We know that the brand intends to score points differently, in particular by offering its games on other supports, as evidenced by the releases of several exclusives on PS5 this year with big games like Sea of Thieves or even Grounded. But we know that the excluded still remain the crux of the matter and the strong franchises of the green brand are very discreet. Halo continues its merry way with Infinite while Forza released its new episode just a year ago… but what is Gears doing? Where have the big muscle guys gone, hanging on to their chainsaw machine guns?
Gears 6 announcement closer than ever?
This is the question that all fans are asking themselves. The king of TPS on Xbox hasn’t given any sign of life for years. Gears 5, however, made a big splash upon its release by restoring the image of a franchise which had coughed more than once with Gears Judgment and a Gears 4 that doesn’t really live up to expectations. Marcus and his commando are popular and very desired, but things could change.
For several months, we have heard rumors here and there about a potential Gears 6, but nothing concrete. However, the very serious Jeff Grubb, renowned for his good information, would have heard that there would soon be movement for the license. In any case, this is what he announces to us once again in a podcast in the company of two other personalities. According to him, Gears 6 could well be shown at the next Xbox Showcase, certainly the one expected this summer during the Summer Game Fest, THE summer event for the entire video game sphere.
The noose is tightening, a big surprise for the Summer Game Fest?
Information which echoes a tweet launched by Parris, one of the speakers of the podcast who tweeted on March 20 a simple message to reflect on the breathtaking graphics of the presentation of Marvel1943 Rise of Hydra, the next big super game hero. “Imagine what Gears 6 would look like under Unreal Engine 5”to which one of the lead developers at The Coalition, the studio behind the license, responded with a simple “yep”which was enough to ignite the powder.
From the tease, a fairly confident Jeff Grubb, even if he doesn’t reveal anything to us, it could well be that the summer is hotter than expected on the Xbox side. The idea is not crazy at all, we know that in general, Xbox does not joke with the announcements during its annual summer conference. Gears 6 would not only have its place, but should certainly create an event. We’re waiting for that, right?
