The problem is that Gemini is still incapable of doing it.
Gemini can’t recognize songs like Google Assistant
According to a report from TechCrunch, Gemini fails to perform this simple task that Google Assistant has been doing for years. Instead of telling you which song is playing, Gemini suggests different apps that you can use to identify the song, like Shazam, SoundHound or Musixmatch.
It also gives you tips on how to use these apps, such as holding your phone close to the speaker or using headphones. This is obviously a very counter-intuitive and impractical way to use a virtual assistant that is supposed to answer all your questions.
The whole point of using Google Assistant is to get quick and easy answers without having to switch to other apps or take additional stepsbut Gemini requires you to download, install, register and use other apps just to find the name of a song. By the time you do, the song may already be finished.
Gemini sometimes even suggests you use Google Assistant instead, which completely defeats the purpose of using Gemini as a replacement. It seems that Gemini is therefore not yet ready to take the place of Google Assistant and that it still needs a lot of improvement.
Gemini is still imperfect, its widespread launch could be postponed
