The president of Disney would like to do Lion King a new Star Wars-style saga.

The next movie Mufasa: The Lion King could thus be the first in a long line of new The Lion King movies and series.

Disney, for better or for worse

For a few years now, the Disney giant has been capable of the best, as well as the worst, with regard to its licenses. Besides the flop of The little Mermaid in live action and the indigestion of content (of very uneven quality) related to Star Wars, Disney has also drawn the wrath of fans of the film Willowwith a series deemed unworthy (which has also been removed from the Disney + platform).

This upcoming film could thus be the first (if we do not count the 2019 remake) of a long series.

According Screen Rant : “ The next step could be movies that follow the stories of Simba’s children or maybe stories about groups of animals in the Lion King universe. ” Like Star Wars, we could therefore be entitled to films, but also TV series, books…

It remains to be seen now whether Disney intends to bet on the license The Lion King in the years to come, even if it means desacralize » the original work in the eyes of the fans, to afford a few million new followers… and dollars.

Impossible indeed to deny the potential (financial in particular) of the saga The Lion King, not to mention that another license straight from the 80s recently broke the box office, namely a certain Super Mario Bros..
