BARCELONA (Agefi-Dow Jones)–Generali announced on Tuesday the acquisition of the insurer of health professionals La Médicale from Credit Agricole SA for 435 million euros in order to strengthen its presence in France.

The amount of the operation remains subject to adjustments during the finalization, scheduled for later this year, said the Italian insurer.

Generali had entered into exclusive negotiations in November with a view to taking over this subsidiary of Crédit Agricole Assurances.

The agreement also provides for the acquisition of the life insurance portfolio of Predica, another subsidiary of Crédit Agricole, which is currently marketed and managed by La Médicale.
