Generate random numbers with Excel – PC-WORLD

Excel includes a function that allows you to generate any number of random numbers of a given length in a few seconds.

This is useful if you want to fill a sample table with numbers, for example. Of course, you can also use the function to generate PINs and other access codes. For example, to get four-digit random numbers, type =RANDRANGE(1000;9999). Excel will now display a randomly generated number in the selected cell, usually A1.

If desired, Excel generates random numbers of any length and in a freely selectable number. For example, you can quickly set up example tables for presentations.

Now click on the handle at the bottom right of the cell border and drag the marker downwards to see more numbers. In a second step, you can drag the table to the right to further enlarge the selection. The random numbers are recalculated each time you enter the formula.
