After the Rockrider E-FEEL 900 S Team Edition launched for 5,499 euros, it’s time for its more affordable version, more soberly named Rockrider E-FEEL 900 S. Decathlon has just added it to its online catalog, with some notable differences both in terms of of the transmission as well as the suspended fork and the wheels.

For everything else, nothing opposes them: weight of 24.8 kg in size M (without pedals), Shimano EP801 central motor with a torque of 85 Nm, 630 Wh battery, aluminum frame made in Canada, size of wheels set at 29 inches, telescopic seat post or even TRP Trail Evo hydraulic disc brakes (4 pistons, 203 mm disc).

Electronic transmission: what are the advantages?

To lower its price (4499 euros), the Rockrider E-FEEL 900 S opts for an 11-speed Shimano Cues Di2 transmission (compared to Shimano XT on the Team Edition). This is an electronic transmission which has many advantages: such a system in fact offers faster and more precise gear changes than a mechanical transmission, which constitutes a significant advantage in mountain biking, particularly on technical routes.

In addition to that, this e-MTB benefits from Shimano’s Autoshift technology. It includes a series of sensors that continuously calculate torque, speed and your cadence, in order to select the best gear automatically. The Freeshift system fortunately allows you to switch to manual.

A mid-range fork

Another change compared to the Team Edition model: the suspension fork with identical travel of 160 mm is a Rockshox Domain RC, positioned in the supplier’s mid-range. Opposite, the Team Edition version is clearly at the top of the range from Rockshox with the Zeb Ultimate fork.

The rear shock absorber also differs: a Rockshox Deluxe Select with 150 mm travel, versus Rockshox Super Deluxe Ultimate opposite.

Let’s continue with the 29-inch wheels: SUNringlé Düroc SD 37, compared to the much more expensive Mavic E-DEEMAX S on the market, which further explains the price difference between the two models. The tires, however, are the same, Rockrider Grip 500s.

Four sizes, one color

The Decathlon Rockrider E-FEEL 900 S is available in sizes S, M, L and XL, in a unique pine blue color. At the time of writing, stocks are not yet ready. It’s probably just a matter of days or even weeks.
