The highlight of the Genshin Impact patch 3.1 presentation livestream will ultimately have little to do with Sumeru. This Friday, it was the announcement of a large-scale collaboration between hoyoverse and the Ufotable studio that caught the attention of the community. The RPG publisher has indeed confirmed that an anime on Genshin Impact was in preparation! And by placing a world-renowned studio like Ufotable (Demon Slayer, Fate, God Eater) at the helm of the project, it’s hard to see how things could go wrong.
A long-term project, with no specific date
Hoyoverse development teams have indicated that this is a long-term project. No official release date has yet been communicated, but we can expect multiple episodes (or even entire seasons) to be in the works at the time of this writing. Unless the track of the feature-length animated film is to be privileged?
A renowned studio to oversee the project
The legendary animation studio Ufotable is working with miHoyo on this project. In the world of anime, it’s not a pet name at all, since Ufotable is at the origin of Demon Slayer, Fate or God Eater (among others).
A competitor for Arcane?
These last two years have shown that animation projects involving video game universes are sometimes very juicy. Released in November 2021, the Arcane series dealing with the universe of LoL is the most accomplished demonstration of this. Genshin Impact being a game that will also have gathered a large community of fans in just two years, all the conditions are in place for a real anime success to emerge in the coming months.
