Georges Tron, accused of rape and sexual assault: justice has delivered its verdict: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

It was one of the most anticipated judicial appointments of the start of the year. Wednesday February 17, 2021, at the Paris Assize Court of Appeal, the mayor of Draveil en Essonne, Georges tron, was finally declared guilty of rape and sexual assault in a meeting on one of the two former employees of the municipality, Virginie Ettel. A decision that the former secretary of state feared, two years after being acquitted for the same facts, dating from May 2011. Georges Tron, who has continued to deny the facts, was sentenced to imprisonment of five years: three years firm and two years suspended. Brigitte Gruel, the city’s former cultural assistant, was convicted of aiding and abetting rape and sexual assault in a meeting, and sentenced to two years in prison. Both are now registered in the sex offender register.

Back to a chilling story

As described The world, George Tron's trial, however, disappointed one of the plaintiffs. Indeed, the court acquitted the accused of the charges pronounced by the second plaintiff, Eva Loubrieu. According to the newspaper, the former employee of Draveil rushed out of the courtroom in tears. But what really happened during George Tron's famous massage sessions? Unveiled a few days after the Dominique Strauss-Kahn earthquake in May 2011, the case obviously echoed many other cases of sexual assault. A detail of the schedule which also served as a defense for the accused's lawyer: "Georges Tron has the right not to be the symbol of a trial other than his own", did he declare.

For a month, the Assize Court of Appeal went through the testimonies evoking foot massages, crude descriptions of threesome sex scenes, forced genital touching … all that could be blamed on Georges Tron, a reflexologist at his hours lost, before his resignation from the Fillon government in May 2011. "Over time, my free will disappears, and the only thing I remember is this feeling of being their sex object ", pleaded Eva Loubrieu. If the court had ruled that these reports had not taken place under duress two years ago, it finally reversed its decision. Georges Tron will finally be sentenced to five years in prison, two of which were suspended, six years of ineligibility and entry in the Register of perpetrators of sexual or violent offenses.
