Despite this good ambient mood, Leïla Bekhti’s great friend revealed that it could sometimes become very heavy for her. “He made me participate in jokes, and this first degree embarrassed me, because it made me uncomfortable”, she confided. And to quote a childhood memory:He invented a lot of things. He was telling the baker in the estate where we lived that we had gone on vacation to Hawaii, because we were tanned and it was August 24th. And when I said to him ‘why are you doing this? It’s not true’, he said ‘because it makes people dream, it’s cool'”. “He didn’t hurt but when you’re 10, you wonder why he does that? It’s weird”concluded the sister of Olivier Nakache.

During an interview with Paris Match in June 2021, Géraldine Nakache had already revealed that she grew up with a particularly joking dad. “I remember my father who would stop at nothing, even walking into a shop pretending he was a stutterer, just to make us laugh. Or swap my calculator for a remote control, right before I go to math class. It is also there, the cinema. Laughing to sweeten life”, confided the 42-year-old director, who however managed to find a place in the world of cinema without the help of her parents. However, this did not prevent him from having received an education that gave him a taste for the 7th Art. Yes, there was cinema at home. The one we watched on TV and also the Sunday ritual in a room to see any movie. We have always had the desire to look at the world, to have a point of view and to like to laugh”, explained Géraldine Nakache to our colleagues.
