BERLIN (Reuters) – The German air force will be the main beneficiary of the 100 billion euros that Berlin intends to invest in the overhaul of its defense, according to a document seen by Reuters on Tuesday.
It shows that 40.9 billion euros will be devoted to the development and purchase of the new generation Eurofighter, the F35 and the successor to the Tornado combat aircraft. Investments are also planned for the construction of a space warning system.
Just over 19 billion euros will be allocated to the navy and 16.6 billion will be used for the purchase of new ships, new submarines and the development of a successor to the Marder infantry fighting vehicle.
