Ukraine is becoming more and more attractive for investments

Russian missiles hit Ukrainian soil every day. However, this does not deter potential investors – on the contrary. The war-torn country is interesting because of its iron will to rebuild. German companies see a number of areas of cooperation.
Despite the war started by Russia, Ukraine is once again developing into an interesting location for investments from the point of view of German industry. “What is decisive for this is the population’s unconditional will to rebuild the country and the determination of a new generation of politicians to tackle the necessary reforms,” explained BDI President Siegfried Russwurm.
The head of the industry association led a business delegation that traveled to the Ukrainian capital of Kiev this week with Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck. The German Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations, representatives of German investors in Ukraine as well as banks and energy companies were also involved. Despite a 30 percent slump in the Ukrainian economy in the war year 2022, all German companies remained in Ukraine, Russwurm emphasized. They also successfully continued their business in the areas not affected by the war.
From the point of view of the BDI boss, it is very welcome that a number of German companies are newcomers and are currently examining further investments and business opportunities in the areas of renewable energies, innovative agriculture, the digital economy, logistics, the building materials industry and suppliers: “The Ukrainian defense industry could also become a Starting point for cooperation with German companies.”
According to the Federation of German Industries (BDI), the federal government continues to actively support this process with investment guarantees and Hermes coverage, which German companies can use despite the military conflict.
